Success Stories

Jessica came to us last year with a phobia about math.  She had already gone through a couple of tutors and nothing appeared to work with her.  After an initial assessment, we concluded that 10th grade Jessica had gaps in her math that went back to fourth grade.  We put together a program of initial rigorous training to catch her up, thereafter Jessica's confidence in handling Algebra began to grow.  We were careful to constantly reinforce her understanding of the legacy gaps as well as the current work.  The result - Jessica, who had not scored better than barely passing in math for years, achieved a B+ for 2006-2007 school year.

Maria, who had immigrated from Costa Rica at the age of ten really struggled on her PSAT.  A high effort, very determined person, Maria has always done fairly well in  school, although her foundation skills in English (her second language) were somewhat lacking.  The vocabulary and critical reading aspects of the PSAT revealed some areas that need attention.  Our solution - put together a 12 week program leading up to the SAT test in May, based on the Summit Educational Group's SAT preparation curriculum.  The result - a 15 percent increase in her test score and an increase in her Algebra grade from a D to a B.
